MedRat®
NutriArchives (a Web-based food composition reference desk) presents the nutritional composition of thousands of food items included
in the USDA
(United States Department of Agriculture) National Nutrient Database for
Standard Reference. It is one of the
world's largest collections of food
composition Web pages, encompassing various releases of USDA food
composition database. The Web pages based on SR20 contain data on 7,519
food items covering >40 important food components/nutrients. For details, please view SR20 documentation as an
HTML document or as a
PDF file.
In the following you can find the
nutritional composition of a food item for various food components/nutrients,
based on SR20, in
three different ways
-
Food composition of a 100 g
of a food item (the food components are in alphabetical order)
-
Food composition of a 100 g
(edible portion) of a food item (the food components are
arranged various food component categories as follows
-
Proximates: The term
proximate components refer to those macronutrients that
include water (moisture), protein, total lipid (fat),
total carbohydrate, and ash.
-
Lipid components
-
Vitamins: Further
divided into fat soluble vitamins and water soluble
vitamins.
-
Minerals: Minerals
included are calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus,
potassium, sodium, zinc, copper, manganese, and
selenium.
-
Carotenoids
-
Miscellaneous
-
Food composition
in which food items are expressed in common
household measures. In addition, the food components are
arranged in alphabetical order: Some food items are measured in common household measures
and/or according to the form of their availability (like fl
oz, tbsp, quart. cup, jar, tsp, oz, piece, stick, can, box,
serving, packet, etc). You can find the concentrations of
various food components in the food items which are
expressed in
common household measures along with mentioning the amount
of food item
in g too.
